It's not true that brown eggs are automatically "healthier" than white ones. Chicken eggs come in all colors, shapes, and sizes, depending on the breed of chicken doing the laying. When it comes to nutrition, the best eggs come from hens that have access to a variety of foods. Most store eggs are produced by hens who are only fed grain, but chickens are omnivores and with access to pasture will naturally consume lots of plants, insects, and even smaller vertebrates. For the best eggs, buy directly from someone who raises chickens. You can find eggs at farmers' markets and even from backyard hen-raisers in Cleveland and other cities. You can also raise your own hens (if your local ordinances allow) for the guaranteed best-tasting eggs you'll ever eat! ~BM, Naturalist I, Garfield Park Center 12/15/2014
